Introducing WRC's innovative initiative: Intergenerational Adopts a School Program, dedicated to promoting health and wellness for your child or children’s success while connections between youth, parents, seniors, and families within the community. This pioneering program aims to provide comprehensive support for low to
moderate-income youth, empowering your and your family for personal and career success using your strengths. According to a study published in the Journal of Adolescent Health, community-based programs involving multiple generations have been shown to positively impact youth and adolescent health behaviors (Source: Santini et al., 2019).

Adoption for Churches, Organizations & Businesses

Program Description

The Intergenerational Adopts a School Program brings together individuals from different generations with in the school to support a designated school mileu within the community. Through this initiative, participants engage in a variety of activities and initiatives aimed at promoting health, wellness, and academic success among students. The program facilitates meaningful connections between youth, parents, seniors, and families, fostering a
sense of community and mutual support.

Program Benefits

Requirements

  • Commitment from participating schools to collaborate with Women Resource Center, Inc. and actively engage in program activities.

  • Involvement of parents, seniors, and other community members who are willing to dedicate their time and resources to support the designated school.

  • Willingness to participate in training sessions and workshops provided by Women Resource Center, Inc. to ensure program effectiveness.

  • School leadership participates with WRC to plan their school program with school support, prizes, recognitions.

Sign-Up Process: Parents and schools interested in participating in the Intergenerational Adopt a School Program can sign up through the Women Resource Center, Inc. website with the signed participation by
the school or by contacting our office directly for additional information (Mondays or Fridays). Upon registration, participants will receive information about upcoming training sessions and program activities.
